Frontman
Gallery 33 is proud to welcome American artist Billy Zane, showcasing a collection of dynamic abstract expressionist paintings in his latest show, FRONTMAN. The centerpiece of this exhibition is a never-before-seen 7.5x13 ft piece, which serves as the new focal point of his collection, emphasizing his long-standing theme of upcycling. These works incorporate found objects and used materials to highlight Zane’s commitment to sustainability. Through his “empathy as alchemy” methodology, Zane transforms discarded items into art with love. This approach, evident in his painting, films, and personal philosophy, reflects his belief in the power of transformation.
Odyssée
"Odyssée" is an invitation to explore the depths of creativity and presents an investigation of the boundless possibilities that arise when artists embrace the untapped reservoirs of creativity. Set in the town of Saint Jean Cap de Ferrat, this exhibition harmonious convergences artists Billy Zane and Diane Detalle by presenting artworks that transcend the ordinary and venture into the extraordinary. Both artists investigate physical manifestation, painterly processes, and the meditative physical act of painting. By activating the space with insightful panel discussions, new paintings and interactive live events the Neptune Gallery will transform the senses. Saint Jean Cap de Ferrat remains rich in historical creativity with the likes of Winston Churchill, Jean Cocteau, Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Chagall to inspiring creatives such as Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Elizabeth Taylor, Charlie Chaplin, all have visited or lived in the area. The canvas of creativity will converge on the port of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat for the celebration of the 120th Anniversary of the city, with audiences congregating for such unique experiences on the historical port at the Neptune Gallery. "Odyssée” stands as a testament to the power of artistic expression to transcend boundaries and create a unified experience. Diane Detalle and Billy Zane, though distinct in their approaches, converge in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to present an exhibition that not only celebrates the beauty of change within the realm of contemporary art but also pays homage to the city's rich artistic history. Visitors are invited to embark on a visual journey, navigating the vibrant dialogues and captivating narratives woven by these two remarkable artists against the backdrop Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat's enduring cultural legacy.

Action!
Since the now-legendary Hollywood verb was barked on a film set 100 years ago, ACTION! became the starter pistol for the collective, creative process used in cinema to this day.
A concert of diverse elements, talents and toolsets are primed, and at its utterance, unleashed before the lens, in a shining moment, to be captured forever.
Regardless of all the preparation, once off the starter blocks, what follows is controlled chaos, an improvisation, a sequence of events that effect the following ones uniquely with every TAKE.
In art, ACTION painting, is not dissimilar. Just as the artist informs the canvas with a gesture, the canvas informs artist as to what their next act, or stroke may be as a result.
It’s a conversation in as much like the term for the very words spoken by characters in a film script or improvised by actors on set, “It’s dialogue Jake.”
I am a grateful child of both parents.
31 years an actor, 25 so far as a painter… I happily inhabit both the film and art worlds and each informs the other, so much so, that most of my paintings are made on location; sometimes on set, in the long waits between shots.
I only use materials I can source in field. The more remote and exotic the location the better, as it reduces the number of variables and, for me at least, increases my creative hunger and desire for expression, as access to colors, canvas and brushes become limited. The search for materials, in fact, has become part of my “process”.
This pressing need to create excellence with “what ya got“, be it on film, memory card or on canvas, adds to this addictive urgency, and air of danger. It demands commitment and bold choices, while being responsive and in the moment. Like an Army medic or EMT, I feel like I’m doing triage; anointing, wrapping, and bandaging a deep blue cut, tending to a fresh crimson gash. And crazy part is I’m the guy that causes the happy accidents!
